Lorain 24-Hour Release Source
Lorain County does not offer a page labeled “Recent Releases” or “24 Hour Release.” The official source is the Lorain County Tyler Inmate Inquiry. Its “In Custody” box is optional, and the form accepts Booking From Date and Booking To Date values. That design preserves some released booking records after a person disappears from the live housing view. It is a historical booking search with release evidence, not a release-time feed.
To approximate a same-day list, search bookings that began yesterday or today, leave “In Custody” unchecked, and inspect records without a “Yes” in the custody column. Open every possible match. The detail page’s actual Release Date is stronger proof than a blank housing field or Scheduled Release Date. Since the filter uses the booking date, a person booked weeks ago and released this morning may not appear in that short window.
Note: The county publishes no guaranteed refresh schedule, so a newly processed departure may appear after the release paperwork is complete.
Check Lorain Same-Day Releases
A broad first pass is useful, but a narrow time-window claim calls for detail review. Use the official inquiry and then work from the booking record to the court or Records Division when needed.
- Open Tyler Inmate Inquiry and leave “In Custody” unchecked so released bookings remain eligible.
- Set Booking From Date and Booking To Date to cover yesterday and today. Treat these only as booking filters.
- Review names, subject numbers, multiple-booking flags, custody indicators, and the listed housing facility.
- Open a likely booking. Confirm the actual Release Date and read every disposition, bond, court, docket, and hold entry.
- Run the name or subject number again with a wider booking range. This catches a person whose confinement began before the short window.
- Ask Sheriff Records for the release or movement record when the destination, time, or release reason remains unclear.

Lorain Release List Fields
The result grid and booking detail answer different questions. Results help locate candidates. Detail pages provide the stronger release facts. Empty fields are possible, so read the record as a whole.

A blank “In Custody” cell strongly suggests the booking is no longer housed there, but it does not name the destination. A transfer to ODRC, another county, federal authority, or immigration custody ends the Lorain jail stay while custody continues. “Court ordered release” can appear as a charge disposition, yet one charge can coexist with another hold.
Note: Bond data can explain a release mechanism, but only the actual release entry and all active holds confirm departure.
Lorain Court-Supervised Releases
Lorain County Common Pleas operates a Court Supervised Release program. After investigation, the program may ask the court to set personal bond and place a person in supervised programming. That is not the same as time served, dismissal, or completion of the case. The person may have left the jail while the criminal case and release terms continue.
The county’s 2023 jail report separates Bond Posted, Personal Recognizance, Court Order, Time Served, To CBCF, Shipped, and transfers to other agencies. Those local categories show why “released” must be read as departure from a specific jail until the destination is known. Check the booking’s Court and Docket Number, then read the judge’s journalized entry through the issuing court. Lorain Release-Date Search Gap
The Tyler system’s most useful feature is also its main trap. It keeps released booking detail searchable when “In Custody” is not selected, including the actual Release Date, disposition, and photo. Yet the from and to fields are based on Booking Date. They do not query releases by date. A long-stay person who leaves today may never appear in a search limited to bookings from yesterday and today.
Use two passes. The first approximates the same-day list with a narrow booking range. The second searches a known name, booking number, or subject number across a broad span. If the goal is a complete set of all jail departures within a clock window, request existing release or movement records from the Sheriff. No guaranteed refresh rate is published, and public web visibility is distinct from agency retention.
The 2026 Lorain County Records Commission material lists the underlying “record of prisoners confined” for three years. That does not promise three years of web access. An older or missing booking can still be requested even when the public interface does not display it.
Lorain Release Records Fallback
The Sheriff’s public-record request form is the direct fallback for a missing result or uncertain destination. Identify the person, approximate booking date, and subject or booking number if known. Ask for the existing booking sheet, actual release date and time, disposition code, public transfer notation, bond record, and relevant movement record. Electronic delivery keeps the request focused.

Under Ohio Revised Code 149.43, inspection is free and paper copies are listed at $0.10 per page. Mailed copies add prepaid postage, while other media may be billed at actual cost. Copies are due within a reasonable period based on scope and redaction, not a fixed number of days.
If the record shows a state-prison transfer, use ODRC Offender Search. A county jail stay that never entered state custody may not appear there. VINE can supply custody-change alerts from participating feeds, but Ohio warns against relying on it alone. Federal and immigration transfers require their own custodians.
Travel After Lorain Release
The Downtown Elyria Loop lists the Sheriff, Lorain/Medina CBCF, Adult Probation, Justice Center, and Transportation & Community Center among its served points. Connections to Routes 51 and 52 can help with travel among custody, court, and supervision sites. Check the route schedule for the actual day and time.
This is public navigation, not a jail transportation promise. A release may occur when a route is not operating, and a transfer destination may not be on the loop. Confirm both the exit and next required office before making plans.
The Sheriff also promotes an official mobile application. The official Android listing supports public-safety communication, but no official source promises a recent-release list in the app. The Tyler web inquiry remains the confirmed released-booking channel.
Lorain Release Property Pickup
Lorain County uses separate paths for funds and property. The Sheriff’s self-booking guidance says remaining funds are issued by check when a person is transported to a state institution or another agency. A person released from facility custody receives remaining funds by prepaid debit card. That difference can reflect an exit path, but it should not replace the formal release and movement record.
The inmate property-release appointment is for a designated pickup person and requires the inmate’s name. It is not proof of the routine release time or place. Investigative evidence and safekeeping property are managed through a different unit and may require court or prosecutor approval even after custody ends.
